Sodium silicate production line

Process introduction:

The main ingredient of sodium silicate is Na2SiO3, it’s water solution is called water glass. Because of the different metal ions in the main material quartz sand, the color of sodium silicate may be colorless, green or brown.


The mol radio of SiO2 and Na2O of sodium silicate is called modulus, divided into low modulus, medium modulus and high modulus.


Sodium silicate production process is divided into dry process and wet process. Dry process can produce sodium silicate with various modulus, wet process is suitable for producing low modulus sodium silicate.


Dry process is high in pollution, high energy consumption and high operating cost(the produce has to be continuous, furnace need to be maintenance half a year), and the cost of raw material is high, so dry process is mainly used to produce high modulus,high concentration(≤50%) sodium silicate. If use as raw material for detergent powder, only need low modulus(≤2.4) and low concentration (35%) sodium silicate, so normally use wet process.
